These are a great tasting ‘hamburger’ pattie which can also be used as a rissole or fill in a wrap for a kid’s lunch.


1 large cup of cooked lentils (400mL tin or cook your own to about this amount) or split peas

2/3 cup LSA mix (ground linseed, sunflower seeds, almonds)Lentil patties 001, approximately

1 egg

1/2 tsp curry powder (optional for a bit of zing)

1 tsp parsley flakes

1 tsp chives, chopped small

1 small carrot, grated

1 Medjool date, finely chopped

pinch ground black peppercorns


If you just cooked your lentils, simply add all other ingredients to the saucepan and mash well with a fork. If usiLentil patties 002ng tinned lentils, it may be easier to blend everything well in a food processor.

Roll into balls and refrigerate for 60 minutes. Then simply add to a frying pan with coconut oil and flatten them out to your desired thickness and lightly brown each side.

Serve with a salad or steamed green veggies or however you wish. It is a great transition dish for kids to use as a healthier-choice homemade burger. It also goes very well wrapped in a cos lettuce leaf with some cashew salad dressing drizzled over the top.
